I hereby would like to share the favorites of Object Rotterdam, a part of Festival Art Rotterdam and held in De Rotterdam (a brilliant architectural phenomenon of 150 meters high, designed by Rem Koolhaas). Visitors where given the opportunity to sneak a peak into a penthouse at the 44th floor and some apartments on the 30th floor where a part of the expo also took place. Luckily the weather was good so that I could wave at my apartment across the water (the red with white building somewhere in the middle of the second picture).
Like in the previous post I didn’t succeed in getting the names of all the designers and artists. But!…(that should not spoil the fun……of sharing…..yes.).
First reaction when I walked in the 44 storeys high penthouse: “uuh..hi hi….uuuuuh….wooooooowww.”
Second reaction: “Hahahaha!…..Woooow……”
Middle part of the building, between the escalators to the parking spaces and the main entrance/atrium.
On the 30th floor, some beautiful robust but delicate furniture by….uhhh…I’m sorry.
The ‘Well Proven Chair‘ by Marjan van Aubel and James Shaw.
I don’t know what it was, but it looked like a fancy sauna with a monster inside, who later turned into a woman without the monster suit.
‘RAGE RAGE (do not go gentle)’ by Marjan Teeuwen and Tilmann Meyer-Faje.
‘Food for Thought.’ by Ma’ayan Pesach.
‘Ik Ben De Kegel’ by Charlotte Kiekebos. (I really like the way the designs are placed in line with the painted wall in the back!)
Dinie Besems (picture from her website)
‘Screw Yourself’ by Peter Hsieh (picture from his website)
A big fat brain attached to a car. Funny to see, because I’m busy producing a giant (extern) brain myself(!).
And when there’s a ‘looking down’ there’s also a ‘looking up’ picture. Thank you Rem Koolhaas.
