abstract series

For an instagram-competition by Slowdown Studio I made these rug designs.
A winning chance is like winning the lottery…
Little chance because of the “OMG-so-much-cool-designs-sent-in-already!!!!”.
So maybe I’ll be turning them into prints for selling?

Anyway, it was really fun to make these kind of images and my brushes are
screaming for more! =D

Colour your world

MF-MATSAsp-gift-colouryourworld

This zipper pouch and consorts are the outcome of a Make Art That Sells “gift market” assignment by Lilla Rogers.

The imagery consist of a selection of my favourite things at home, illustrated with acrylic, gouache and pencil. The composition and extra colour is done in Photoshop.

I would love to see this for real (!).

Kaleidoscopic patterns with wine

The other ‘social business’ I had yesterday, was with my good friend Tessa.
We went to Sprank Interior projects where Prints van Oranje provided a workshop in collaboration with Leoxx about surface pattern design, from paper to interior textiles and floor coverings. It was very interesting and I learned a lot of new things about this industry. I would love to design prints for interiors, big ánd small!

I was especially interested by the MEMPHIS trend, back in the 80s, from which they showed some pictures. It’s also very trending at this moment again…
I typed it in the Pinterest search bar for you to have a look…

After soaking up all the information about prints, patterns, different kind of textiles, floor coverings, prices, squared meters, etc. it was time to cut and paste our own ‘start of a pattern’ in small teams. Prints van Oranje would play with our “amazing artworks” and make a repeat pattern of it.

Today I played with our artwork too, and these are the results….
(I can go on and on with this, but I won’t……right now…it’s addictive…)

Republic Moto Rotterdam

Yesterday was a energizing day full of ‘social business’!

In the morning I went to Republic Moto Rotterdam. A lifestyle shop around motorcycles; high end accessories and (fashionable) protective clothing will be sold, a cafe and restaurant will stay open after shop’s opening hours and they’ve also big motor-related event plans. OPENING January 2017!

Together with a few other artists, illustrators, graphic designers I’ll be showing my work in their shop through a customized helmet. Their customers will be able to get in touch with us if they like our artwork on helmets, motor parts, accessories, or anything else.

I’m very grateful for this opportunity, given by the store owners Egbert Egberts and Jürgen van Son. And of course my colleague Arthur Spek for letting me customize his cafe racer helmet, where it all started…

Sadie Williams & Other Stories

“A short film created by London-based designer Sadie Williams and her brother Joe, highlighting the creative process behind the high-impact prints and signature textiles found in her co-lab collection for &Other Stories.” — by &Other Stories Youtube-Channel

I really, really like all of this! The stop-motion video, the geometric prints, the glitters, the designs, the music, the visual tactility, the geometric prints, the glitters….

For more info about their co-operation and collection you can check out the &Other Stories website or just go to one of the stores if you’re lucky to have one in your neighborhood (I’m not…).

Below there’s Sadie Williams with the shiny fabrics.
