Patterns around the house #July’16

The 15th of July I’ve started a weekly Instagram project to get more pattern minded. Last year and this year I found myself buying more clothing with patterns all over it. It’s a nice contrast seeing them laying between my dark colored stuff in the closet and I find it a nice change to wear them as well!

To get even more pattern minded (for creative purpose) I thought I’d collect them as well, captured in a pic as reference material. And I thought, like many people do, Instagram is a good medium for this…It brightens my account too!

So…every week a pattern, shared on Instagram (and Facebook) and I’ll post them once a month on this blog, categorized ‘PATTERNS AROUND THE HOUSE’, found in the right menu.

This one’s for July!

Don’t you just love this photo? It just can’t wait to sit and work at my fantastic green desk in my perfect stylized green studio! Oh wait…..this is not my studio….

Object Rotterdam 2014

I hereby would like to share the favorites of Object Rotterdam, a part of Festival Art Rotterdam and held in De Rotterdam (a brilliant architectural phenomenon of 150 meters high, designed by Rem Koolhaas). Visitors where given the opportunity to sneak a peak into a penthouse at the 44th floor and some apartments on the 30th floor where a part of the expo also took place. Luckily the weather was good so that I could wave at my apartment across the water (the red with white building somewhere in the middle of the second picture).

Like in the previous post I didn’t succeed in getting the names of all the designers and artists. But!…(that should not spoil the fun……of sharing…..yes.).

I don’t know what it was, but it looked like a fancy sauna with a monster inside, who later turned into a woman without the monster suit.

And when there’s a ‘looking down’ there’s also a ‘looking up’ picture. Thank you Rem Koolhaas.

Woonbeurs Amsterdam 2013

I finally made the time to upload my Woonbeurs photos. again it was nice to walk through all those beautiful furniture and ‘Magazine houses’. (Everywhere it screamed “RETRO, RETRO, RETRO, CACTUSES!” Overall it wasn’t that surprising compared with last year (but then again, it was their jubilee). A lot of empty places…maybe the crisis striked once again?

But of course there were also some highlights! Below a selection of the snapshots I took with my mobile phone. For more photos you can check out my Pinterest board.

Nesting Tables

A DIY tutorial (again, I’m sorry) for pimping up nesting tables, made by Elsie and Emma from abeautifulmess. I really like the colours and patterns they used! Simple, but effective. Click here for the full post and the tutorial.
